I hope everyone is celebrating at a comfortable spot and having a blast looking forward to what they want to accomplish for the upcoming year.

I myself am quite excited for 2012. Here are the 10 events I’m anticipating.

1. Release of the Dark Knight Part 3, AND The Hobbit

2. Seeing how the Wii-U Performs

3. Finally completing my first game creation project (and I promise it’ll be crap)

4. 2012 US elections (just because I’m really into politics)

5. The price increase on gas and public transport

6. The Mayan Calendar Apocalypse

6. Waiting another whole year for Pacquiao vs Mayweather to not take place

7. The final ruling on SOPA and Anonymous’s ruling on PSN

8. Visiting Bell’s Montreal office next week for their constant shitty internet service.

9. Getting rid of the pink teddy bear walls in my room (I got quite used to it I’ll admit…)

10. Going to the Uganda to star in their upcoming Ramon Film production.

It seems  Anonymous is making a move on the SOPA Bill that is threatning the freedom of the internet. I have no clue if these threats are serious or if the source material is credible in any way but the confusion is the beauty of it. All I have to say is keep on playing skyrim for the next month or two because you may want to stay out of the online components of the PSN. To be honest if this is real I’m a little excited as  we’re running into 2012, there’s so much to look forward to and so many things checkpoints on the calendar.  If all the coming events are the apocalypse the Mayans were talking about then it’s going to be a blast! Anyways, onto the message from Anonymous.

As Seen on Gaming Bolt

“Hello, SONY.

We are Anonymous.

It has come to the attention of the Anonymous activist community that you have chosen to stand by the Stop Online Piracy Act. This act will halt online businesses and restrict access to many sites for many users. Supporting SOPA is like trying to throw an entire company from off a bridge. Your support to the act is a signed death warrant to SONY Company and Associates. Therefore, yet again, we have decided to destroy your network. We will dismantle your phantom from the internet. Prepare to be extinguished. Justice will be swift, and it will be for the people, whether some like it or not. Sony, you have been warned.

To those doubting our powers. We’ve infiltrated the servers of Bank of America, The United States Department of Defense, The United Nations, and Lockheed Martin. In one day.

For their approval to SOPA, we have also declared that our fury be brought upon the following persons. Justin Bieber. Lady Gaga. Kim Kardashian. and Taylor Swift.

Operation Blackout, engaged.
Operation Mayhem, engaged.
Operation LulzXmas, engaged.

We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.

Supporters of SOPA, you should’ve expected us.”

There’s quite a bit of witty comedy inserted into this message so you can tell the people who made it were pretty young and had fun doing it. I’ll be honest it’s my first time witnessing their logo and a message from them that isn’t from transcript. If this is the first time they’ve released an audio threat then it shows that they are getting recognition. What I’m wondering is why the choice of making a video that is public on youtube and not something a little bit more direct? I’m pretty sure that after the previous attack Sony is willing to take measures against any threat. The fact that the message originates from a youtube video is the only thing I find a little sketchy. Nonetheless, the confusion of the credibility does add to why they call themselves what they are.

Another thing I just looked at that doesn’t lead me to believe the threat as 100% valid, is because their twitter account is pretty active but very recent. Anonymous has been around for a while so I can’t be sure anything can go down yet, but I will admit it is HIGHLY PROBABLE hacker groups will get in the way if SOPA passes. It’s almost going to be as horrible as the war on drugs except this time around it’s going to involve everyone.

Rich and crazy or just idiocy?

Snail Games held an auction for their upcoming game called Age of Wulin in China and one man bought a unique sword for 16000$… This comes as a surprise to some people but I really wasn’t impressed. MMO’s whether they are free or Pay to Play, really know how to suck the money out of the unfortunately addicted. I occasionaly play a game called S4 League where players will literally pay 200$ a month at the very least in an attempt to get the best gear. It’s quite pathetic that people have the money to throw away on goods that have no real value.

We live in an age where no one believes in honor and hard work  to get to the top. This reality is true in a wide majority of communities in their own unique forms and is true of the gaming communities as well. I can see why someone would spend  that much if the sword is overpowered especially if he can make some profit from it. I’m stating my understanding keeping in mind china is known in the MMO community for selling accounts and in game gold for real cash.

I just hope for him that the game turns out to be a good game as it’s really rare for an MMO to come out and not a 2 star game. I’ll look more into this one because I’m still wondering what the man’s incentive was for his investment. Rich Douche, or hardcore fan? I guess we’ll find out.

Bill Maher Vs Tim Tebow

Posted: December 29, 2011 in Uncategorized

Bill Maher is a comedian, and it’s to be expected. All in all the joke is appropriate, the reaction is over the top… The thing I find hilarious is how the reporter were expecting tebow to get into a twitter war like giddy preschoolers. Apparently between the media and Tebow, it seems Tebow knows better.

Jabronis and Linearity

Posted: June 23, 2011 in Uncategorized

It really has nothing to do with the franchises, but when i see dumbed down and gaming I think how games don’t let you think for yourself anymore. Duke Nukem Forever is a perfect example of where the game is actually “Mirror’s Edged” to the point where everything you need is purposely coated with a golden color. Some players really don’t want the game to play for them. That’s the most common explanation I get from talking with gaming communities from the city of Montreal.

Here’s a funny picture I was linked to through a conversation earlier today comparing the old Duke Nukem with the one newly released.

You can have a good story, well developped characters and good graphics in a good game, but if you’re gonna do it, you better spend time on it. The only thing that angers me is that games implement things they can’t even do right. This was a big problem with the 3D age and now we are seeing the same thing in a different generation. It’s a reoccurring problem. It’s focusing on one aspect of the game and ignoring all others which makes the whole game suffer in the end.

As much as I loved my Ps3 and 360 I always buy a Nintendo console. 95% of the time I buy a game for the that system it feels complete satisfying and it delivers on what it wanted to do. The only purchase I had a complaint with was the latest Metroid. Even games like “No more Heroes” and “Zack & Wiki” I enjoyed to the fullest and those were 30- 40$ games.

I’m not going to linger too much on the subject because everyone defends their own ground to the death when it comes to gaming. To finish the question of if gaming is dumbed down, yes and it’s obvious. I’m not saying this from opinion but fact. There were less clues, linearity, chances and checkpoints in much more games back then, Console and PC alike. That is not arguable, there is a plethora of examples.

There’s also a person who says everything changes over time… Yes, Things change for the money, and not necessarily for the better.

Oldies but the Goodies 2

Faxanadu, is a game that doesn’t ring through the ears at first mention. Although, if you have come across this gem, the music will without a doubt bring you back memories of of your playtime. This game does a lot with the very little it was offered spec wise and it does it well. It is probably the first rpg/platformer that I enjoyed the whole way through being aware of it’s flaws which back then were not so apparent. Faxanadu can still be played in this generation without cringing at all. A sequel of this beauty would be highly appreciated.

Jet Set Radio Future

I haven’t played Jet Set Radio on the Dreamcast so I can’t speak for it, nonetheless I received Jet Set Radio Future with my Xbox. It was the kind of game I preemptively gave a bad rating because it came with the console and it wasn’t mainstream, but I quickly withdrew my comments on it as I decided to give it a try. The Soundtrack is a big part of this game as it is sampled urban style music from a variety of artists. This means that you may have come across these tracks through the radio or other forms of media entertainment. The beauty of this game comes through the mix of all the ingredients that is gameplay, music, controls and the setting. The story itself is quite mediocre in its presentation but it plays a very little role in offering the fun the game. Each character has a lot to offer and there were a lot of challenges to keep you busy.

Jet set radio isn’t that old but I had to post it because it had a track called “oldies but the goodies”.
